Our product development and innovation strategies complement each other to offer our clients with unique and novel products.

Some of the products we designed or developed were used in the mining, pharmaceutical, medical, automotive, hardware, aerospace and defence industries.

At times we would follow the 12 phases, that can be further broken down into another 140 tasks,  can be managed by a “Product Development Project”.  Projects are strictly managed according to PMBOK® principals.  These phases would cover the product development life cycle, quite well:

  • Phase 1: Detailed Briefing
  • Phase 2: Research
  • Phase 3: Initial Design Concepts
  • Phase 4: Prelim. Eng. Development
  • Phase 5: User Research
  • Phase 6: Intermediate Eng. Development
  • Phase 7: Preliminary Prototype Development.
  • Phase 8: Interim Prototype Development
  • Phase 9: Final Prototype Development
  • Phase 10: Product Visual Refinement
  • Phase 11: Manufacturing Integration
  • Phase 12: Product Release

Other development techniques we like to use in product development are Quality Functional Deployment (QFD) and Failure, Methods and Effects Analysis (FMEA), more frequently used in the automotive industry.  When using these techniques we like to apply our Innovation Management and Consulting skills.  Team dynamics and Brainstorming would be integral parts.

Also, we typically apply Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) concepts.  Being well versed with Maintenance Management, we also incorporate maintenance friendly concepts in a product development.  Additionally, as part of Product Development we incorporate User Training including, but not limited to, Process Mapping, Operation and Maintenance Procedures and Learning Techniques.

The application of technology is probably one of our best attributes.  We are a national product development leader applying Computer Aided Design (CAD) Computer Aided Machining (CAM), linked with Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machines, Finite Element Modelling (FEM), process simulation, mould flow, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Reverse Engineering (RE) and Rapid Prototyping (RP) techniques.  Services not offered in-house are closely controlled and sub contracted to a network of local and international contractors.
